French as the biggest challenge

So, I started an intensive course at EPFC language school in September, 3 times 3 hours/week. It was not easy and even I had lessons during the afternoon, so I left work around 1, I was so tired at the end of the day. But the good news is that I can recommend to everyone! It's not advertising the school, but it has lots of advantages to take the course here: - cheep(100€ registration fee for 1 school year+courses are cheep)- good location (I went to Port des Namur) but this depend on which language you choose. I had an amazing teacher who was professional and pedagogically perfect:)
All in all, take the opportunity not to pay hundreds of € and learn French maybe not in a very affective way.

SIP WELL:)

Now, it's almost the end of October. I could demonstrate all my activities in Brussels with the attached picture:) I don't really think, anybody from my work read this blog... the point would be to share my thought with them as well... but never mind:)

EVS - amazing experience?

Well, when I decided to apply for an EVS project in 2008, I decided not to get into a project which I'm not interested in; I was looking for it for very very long time, lots of energy, waiting for replies, hoping that an organization wants me:) Than, after 1,5 years of trying and searching, I got the project in Sleepwell. I was already very happy, resigned from my job and hoped that I made a good decision.
I still have 1,5 months of my project. Since there was a structural change in the office, I don't really think, I'm useful for Sleepwell or it's useful or whatever for me. It's sad, but true. The personal change influenced all my project and was not very good timing... but changes can be in good time? Well, we never know.
SO, the rest of my project is about figuring out what to do if Sleepwell is not very enthusiastic about my knowledge and ideas about work. And finally I could say, I got so many things from my EVS: I met amazing people (Italians, Latvians, Frenches, very few Belgians, Spanish and of course Hungarians). I can be only grateful for the fortune that gave me so many friends. And yes, Brussels. It's a chaotic city with lots of different nationalities, culture diversity and crazy ideas. French is a beautiful language, I just love it - day by day you need to fight with it, you can never think, now you speak French:)But if you respect the language, it gives you back all what you have already invested in it:) SO gooooooogogoogogoo:)

September

Autumn has definitely arrived:)It was about a month ago I did not write... Things are a bit changing - I know, it normal, but I think this is the most difficult period of my project. Anyway, I don't want to complain:) This week, I have lots of cultural program I will participate in. First, today a book launch in the Hungarian Culture Center(HBC), then tomorrow, Chopin night with Hungarian musicians also in HBC, and this Friday, I organize a cinema night in Sleepwell. It will be special and I'm very excited:) Hope everything will go well:)
So, if you're in Brussels, don't hesitate to come to any of these programs:)

Weather

I came back from holiday a few days ago...I really hoped I will still enjoy summer here... but it was just an illusion:( Unfortunately, weather is awful:( And I suffer of sleepiness and other things. Since I'm here, sky is gray, it rains at least two times a day and you can see the sun sometimes, but you need to be lucky:)
Anyway, I will survive:) Yes:)))))))))))))

Waterloo - and the conquerors

Yesterday, I had a new discovery - Waterloo and Napoleon:)
Well, 18 June 1815. all Europe was against France, and I can understand how angry they were because of man who wanted every power in this continent.
The battlefield is really interesting, all museums and the tour around the battle with guide was really worth.
I didn't know that one of the biggest and most important battle field is that close to Brussels, 26 minutes by train. It's nothing:)

Brussels Summer

I love Brussels because every day, I find something artistic and crazy:) Walking in the city, and you just find very funny things. In summer, the city has different face, much alive, and you cannot miss a day without an outdoor program or festival. Amazing, how many events, workshops are here:)

Mons with the girls

I was in Mons with all other volunteers from the Francophone region. The EVS seminar was 3 days and it was much better than the arrival training. The city is very very nice and the weather was extremly hot:) I think it's very strange in Belgium, but I was very happy about it:)
We had fun together, look around in the city. Mons can be the capital of culture in 2015 if they win:) I wish them because the city center and the hall city is really attractive and the architecture is very amazing. The only baroque tower of Belgium is in Mons!
We had a city tour as well with professional tour guide. The man asked at the beginning in Hungarian if anyone can speak Hugarian in the group? I was so surprised:) He was already born in Belgium, but both his parents are Hungarian who left H. before the II. world war. Amazing that he speaks Hungarian, because he studied and worked in French all the time:)

Eszter in the administrational office of foreigners

Well, my first trip to the administration office in my district was on 23rd February. The process - to get an ID card - takes around 5 months:) Last week I got a letter that I can get my card:) Today I went there. I suppose all officers there hate foreigners... they are usually very rude and strict, one of them told me last time, that he's fed up with European people. So what does he think about Africans?... Anyway, in 4 weeks, I'll get my ID card - hopefully:)

Antwerp

Hi all,

no worries... I'm still in Brussels, just a bit lost in the past two weeks.
Last week-end, me and Màrton visited Antwerp... well the city is nice but telling the truth: I would never live there:) it's too Flemish and people are a bit bizarre:)
The port is quite nice, not that interesting, but maybe I expected too much, who knows.

Bonjour á tous:)

Today, I was in Knokke with other 3 girls. It was very hot and no clouds on the sky:) Really good weather to enjoy this holiday:)
Knokke is 1,5 hour from Brussels by train, not that far. Lot of people but no Marokkean... sorry to say that, but sometimes it is a bit too much of them.
Anna, a polish girl, Laura, French girl and Anete, Litanies girl was my company. We laughed a lot:) Laoura is another volunteer in Brussels, Anna works here and Anete is an intern in an international logistic organisation.
We had lot of fun:)
We saw a lot of rich, retired people, who spend their money on the sea side, just because no other things to do. Flemish people are more rich, lot more. And this city is also flamand, really can feel the difference between Wallonia and the Flemish part of the country.

Gare du Midi Market

It's a pity that I just went now to check this market... but the weather was so cold until this time:( SO, the market is amazing, with full of everything: fruits, vegetables, cosmetics, clothes, accessories, shoes, meats, cheese, spices:) It was full with locals and tourists as well. I ate burek, but it's not the same as in Croatia.:) I bought dry potatoes, feta cheese, aubergine, onion, olive (black):) I will make a salad - my French friend, Loura suggested. It sounds a bit bizare:)

Vulcan cannot stop me:) - Bordeaux

on 18th April, I found a car on http://www.covoiturage.fr/
I left Brussels very early in the morning, catch a train in Central Station to Mouchron, than to Lille. In Lille I wait an hour for the car and finally we left Lille. It took 8 hours to get to Bordeaux on motorway:) Long journey but worth:)
Bordeux: beautiful, almost Mediterranean city with nice cafes and squares. Actually, me and Marton visited friends (Damien and Johana) in Bordeaux. It was very very nice, and we enjoyed every moment. Only difficulty was the language, I would have really liked to use my mother tongue with Marton, but... I know, it's not polite if you are the guest and you speak different language, but I missed it so much.
to be continue...

Promenade des Magnolias

Yesterday, we went with Catherine to the National Botanic Garden of Belgium. It's amazing, I recommend to everyone who would like to chill out and admire these beautiful flowers. At this time, all trees blossom. The castle is like in fairy tales. If weather is nice, it worth going this month!

Easter in Paris

I spent my Easter holiday with a friend, Andi studies with Erasmus in Paris and she was so kind to invite me to this huge and amazing city.
I have been here before so now we had time to look around where I wasn't before.
Besides thousands of tourists, we found our way to enjoy the city and not to loose patience because of the crowd:)
Andi's parents visited us, we had very delicious ham, tommy, horseradish, TURO RUDI, cakes.

Sunday in Gent

We (Sandra and me) went to GEnt by train, it's very close to Brussels and trains go there every half an hour. So it's really confortable. At the moment, the city is under construction, so I will visit it again in summer, hope it'll be ready:) As for me, I prefer Gent to Brugges. Brugges is also lovely but Gent's a bit more closer to real life:)

Namur - EVS Training

I had my "on arrival" training last week, for 3 days. I did not really want to go because I participated in so many trainings, I thought it won't be special. But I met there so many kind people... really I felt very good because of them. 3 Italian, 1 Turkish, 1 Ukranian, 1 English, 2 French. All of us are volunteers in the francophone part of Belgium.:)All of us have very different projects, but 6 people are in Brussels which is very good:)
The training was in Namur, the city is really cute and kind. Good to have a deep breath after Brussels.

Hungarian Revolution of 15th March 1848

The Hungarian Revolution of 1848 was one of many revolutions that year and closely
linked to other revolutions of 1848 in the Habsburg areas. The revolution in the
Kingdom of Hungary grew into a war for independence from Habsburg rule.
Many of its leaders and participants, including Lajos Kossuth, István Széchenyi, Sándor Petőfi, József Bem, are among the most respected national figures in Hungarian history, and the anniversary of the revolution's outbreak, on March 15.

Brugge

The city is marvellous, and the sea also. Wheather was a bit windy but the view compensate us:)

Surrealism with Magritte

I went here with Natalia, one of my colleague to Magritte. I did't exept anything... honestly, I have never heard this name: René Magritte. Magritte was a surrealist painter, like Salvador Dalí, Jean Miró, Max Ernst. Surrealism: surpasses realism.
At the beginning, it was literary phenomenon. From 1924, Belgium became the first country outside of France to mount nascent initiatives leading to a fully-fledged surrealist scene.

Museum Night Fever

We have the same in Budapest... But this was different, more extreme. Of course, museums which I've never seen before made me excited. I was with a friend of mine, Sandra. We met in language course and her flatmate also came. First we visited the Museum of the City of Brussels - Maison du Roi. On 3rd floor, there was a DJ live, and a lot of different costumes, visitors could try on and have very funny pictures. We did it, waiting for the pictures.
Second stage was Museum of Costume and Lace, Fashion in 60's - also interesting and personally enjoyed checking all clothes and hats, shoes from this decade.
Then ... Comic Strip Museum, it's funny place itself. As for me, I'm not a big fan of comics but the museum was like a big play ground, I felt like Alise in wonderland.

Brusselsmania Party

The party was on Wednesday. We were preparing things for the expo in the hostel. I didn't take my camera but one of my collegue had one, so be patient:) coming soon.
But anyway: the party was great and I met many people - got to know 2 guys from Jacques Brel Hostel:) It was fun, but after the expo, the party was... soso. Music was catastrophic:) Really. But one of the guys will show some good party place with good music.

Best moments in the week-end

On Saturday, I went to a swimmingpool. It's not close but worth going there:) It was very relaxing and finally I could just do some sports... I really missed it.
On Sunday, I got a pack from my family. The story is, that one of my friesd's monther came to Brussels from Eger this weekend and my mother sent some staff for me:) I missed some of my ear-rings:) and shoeses,... and I got very delicious sausage and home made jam (by my grandma).
I'm so happy:)

My fair lady

3 pm, a guy jumped in the lift. He was completly drunk and blow, and sing a song from My fair lady...
Plus, he had a make up, only mascara.

EVS

I started applying for the program " European Volunteer Service" 2 years ago. It's a long story, I worked hard to get into the system, find the best hosting organisation and arrange everithing. Theoretically, the sending organisation should work on finding a host organisation for the volunteer, but in my case(and many of my friends)I did almost the work - I felt like having two jobs at the same time, searching for a project and do my daily work at a company.
Anyway, I got the project in December 2009, I was very happy that I can come to Belgium for quite a long period, 10 months. I have never been before, so have many things to discover.
To be continued...

"Frenglish"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXIgqfQCo3U&feature=player_embedded#
This is more than funny, at the moment, I speak French like this... hope I inprove soon.
Today was nothing special,... but no, there's something: I found a Lidl close to where I live. Prices are much better than other supermarkets.

Delirium

I was here with one of my collegues, Natalia. It was really fun and the place... special atmosphere with funny barmen. You can choose from 2000 different kind of beers... amazing. Anyway, Delirium is a beer type, strong but I haven't tried yet

Pas ce soir chéri

Pas ce soir chéri means "Not tonight baby", the group (http://www.pascesoircheri.be/) has rehearsals in the hostel. I haven't heard them yet, BUT I really look for it. Only women in the group! With this name!

French course

I went to my first language lesson (Hotel de Monnaies station) on Monday ( 30 minutes from Rogier station). This was the only course started on February that’s why we chose. Actually, there were the following nationalities: Chechen, Moroccan, Romanian, Brazilian, Polish, Pakistani, Philippine, Italian and of course Hungarian, only me. After one hour I decided to ask the teacher whether ther’s other class to have because there were people who could not pronounce “Je suis” or couldn’t count in French. So now, with Olivier’s help, I search for another course.
Weather is much better than yesterday.
